BLACK RYU In this 20th century when the ideal of a fighting man or woman, regardless of the class to which he or she belonged, is that of a man or woman able to hold there own in combat with any weapon available (from his own bow and arrow, gun, knife, spear, sword or bat to his or her opponent’s, if necessary) and able to face, with equanimity, whatever problem the dramatic and violent reality of the times it might present. Practice must become effective! Development of mental control, will power, concentration and determination is a must.

 

The approach to teaching in this ancient ryu is clearly wider in scope and depth and must be developed personality and expected to be handle efficiently and with style. This is the (‘’secret arts’’), the okugi (‘’inner mysteries”). A pledge of secrecy in oath which a pupil takes as he or she submit them self’s to the master for consideration as a pupil. The secret ryu inherited at one time from father to son must once again be handed down from generation to generation.

 

Black Ryu is a ritual of technique and beautiful movement. But you must keep in mind always the (Do) the (Way) to observe the significance implicit in this, to show that it is the (Way) of budo. This differentiates it from the diverse forms of Karate which are merely for fighting purposes.

Combining the principles of Zen, we must never forget the spiritual aspects of the Ancients. And then there is the concepts of (KI) Ki is one of the most important in this ryu! It directly concerns everyone’s daily life, since is nothing less then the vital energy of life! Taken from the Nubian philosophy the Chinese call it Qi (Chi) an energy whose home is the Dantian (Tan Tien) point, located in human beings blow the navel. The nature of this universal and fundamental energy is such that it penetrates everywhere, uniting all the manifestations of the universe, visible or invisible. The divine “breath”.
